Capcom just put out a poll asking what platform gamers want the next Megaman video game to be released on. Since the Nintendo DS already had some love with the recent games Megaman ZX and Megaman ZX Advent, it’s about time that the PSP had some Megaman (known in Japan as Rockman) love, and it looks like most voters think so, judging by the recent poll results so far.
For your convenience, we have pointed out which in the entries are the PlayStation 3, the Nintendo DS, and the PlayStation Portable figures to help you out in your voting. The Nintendo Wii and the Xbox 360 are also in the list. Don’t tarry and click on the Via link to support your favorite console and get first dibs on the next Megaman video game!

Remember when we mentioned rumors of an English translation patch for Capcom’s Monster Hunter Portable 2nd? MikePip reminded us of the patch again, and tipped us off to the place where it could be found.
It seems that the translators have been hard at work at making a usable patch that tries to extensively translate the text in the video game Monster Hunter Portable 2nd, from dialogues to weapon and armor names. As you can see from the screenshot above, it really does happen to work.
The site has an extensive tutorial for patching your game, though it should probably be noted that if you’re not particularly tech-savvy, you could end up wrecking the playability of an expensive import. That being said, you can visit the source link below for additional information, as well as a link to the Monster Hunter Portable 2nd patch itself.

Sometimes, it’s easy to forget the people who’ve helped make the homebrew scene what it is today. That’s why interviews with homebrew developers are always a welcome sight: they tell us more about the heroes of the homebrew scene, from who they are to what they’re thinking.
The folks over at the Exophase website recently interviewed Zx-81, otherwise known as Ludovic Jacomme, one of the most prolific homebrew makers to date. He’s done everything from IRC clients to old-school game machine emulators, and he’s certainly not stopping there.
The interview talks about what motivates Jacomme to keep making homebrew, as well as his thoughts on the homebrew and gaming scene in general. It’s an interesting read, if only to read his thoughts on how Sony has tackled the handheld market so far. In any case, check it out through the read link below.

A bit of bad news for the PSP homebrew community, and those of us who reap the benefits of their labors: one of today’s up-and-coming coders, becus25, has recently announced that he’s leaving the scene on a sad note. We get you all the details of this rather unfortunate turn of events.
The news comes directly from becus25’s own blog, with only a single entry that holds his final message to the homebrew scene. Fortunately, he also included an English version of his farewell letter. Here it is, verbatim:
Definitively I am not in a good moment. They have been several things that have happened these days which I want neither to remember nor to mention anything. I leave the scene. The code of the IE will not be thrown for personal reasons.
I sit it. A greeting.
Certainly a sad day indeed. We wish becus25 the best of luck with his future endeavors, and give him thanks for all the work he’s put into contributing to the homebrew scene as we know of it.

Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron producer James Smith has revealed a few bits of info regarding Rebellion Developments‘ upcoming PSP title on the team’s official IGN blog. It’s not much, but it should be something to chew on for those who are eagerly awaiting the game’s release.
First off, Smith revealed that the Clone Wars does indeed feature in the game. “It’s true that the story mode (or Campaign) focuses on the Galactic Civil War era, but the Republic and CIS factions are in there for Instant Action and Multiplayer modes,” said Smith.
Speaking of multiplayer, the game will feature both Ad Hoc and Infrastructure modes. Customization will also play a big part in the game, although aside from mentioning a few customization features (color, equipment such as the Jump Pack and the Rage power-up), Smith did not talk about any other customization details.

QJ.NET reader F00 f00 sent us an email regarding a homebrew program over at online site Acid Mods that will let users practice modding a PlayStation Portable unit. It’s called Virtual PSP Modder and is owned by coder cyberpyrot. We really find this program useful as not all of us have the courage to crack open our dear handhelds.
Anyway, the developer noted that Virtual PSP Modder’s most basic features will include simulation drills for soldering trigger LED’s, changing faceplates, and customization with a large variety of buttons. Tools will be added as well such as screwdrivers, tweezers and magnify glass that are needed in disassembling the virtual PSP unit
The LED features are currently done and cyberpyrot is currently working on some fancy menu features. Like we said, this is still a WIP but the developer said that he is ahead of his release schedule so we can expect to see a version of Virtual PSP Modder soon.
Thanks to F00 f00 for the heads up!
