Justin Lambros, executive producer of Iron Man and vice president of Marvel Studios, took a breather from hours of game production to hint at what gamers could expect from the movie-game tie-in of the upcoming movie, Iron Man. Lambros answered a wealth of inquiries on the Iron Man video game (PC, Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 3, PSP, Nintendo DS), and aspects of gameplay, villain appearances, and customization were addressed.
Gameplay-wise, Iron Man fans and gamers were assured that the Iron Man will not be all about flying and shooting. Lambros explained that the game offers other options for defeating enemies, including a slew of strategic elements for the various enemies included in the game.
And speaking of enemies, villains appearances will include Whiplash, though the extra-terrestrial, legendary dragon Fin Fang Foom will probably not make the cut. Lambros reminded players that Iron Man will adopt the “movie world” (though probably still true to the comic books) of the character, so there are limits to what enemies they will consider for the game.
Storyline also ties in closely with the movie’s plot, though the developers may be plopping additional events and stories as game development ensues. Side quests and subplots are a integral part of the game’s core features, says Lambros, so players will have plenty to do in-game.
Aiding Tony Stark in his battles will be his own technologically superior weapons. It appears the developers will combine weapons from the movie and weapons from the comics to diversify Stark’s arsenal, even if some could make do with a Repulsor alone.
Perhaps to cleave the learning curve, a customization feature was added so the Iron Man armor could be tuned to players’ preferences. No exact details were mentioned, but it was hinted that adjustments could be made to “make the suit match the way [players] want to play the game.”
More developments on these as they roll in.

Pong has always been a timeless classic in terms of gaming. Even though it doesn’t have the depth or the next-gen graphical qualities of today’s games, it’s still an addictive title to while away hours with, whether you’re playing against the CPU or a friend. Now, homebrew developer sony_psp_player has written a version of the game for the Sony PlayStation Portable, but with a neat twist: it automatically detects black pixels, making them surfaces for the ball to bounce off of.
And before you ask, yes, you can customize the background, simply by replacing the background file bundled in the downloadable archive. This means that if you’re crafty with map creation, you can make each game more challenging than the last. Just be sure to use the color black. If you want a normal game of Pong, however, all you have to do is either leave the background as it is, or make sure the picture you replace it with doesn’t have any black pixels.
There’s no readme file in the archive itself, so here’s an excerpt from the release thread:
There is an english and a german EBOOT.PBP in the 7zip. The game runs on the 3xx Kernel and on the Slim PSP.

With Manhunt 2 (PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Wii) already on shelves in North America, it looks like more and more organizations are condemning the game as well as Rockstar Games itself. The latest group to voice their opposition of Manhunt 2 is the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
NAMI is currently calling for Rockstar Games to either recall or further modify Manhunt 2. The group has also called on retailers to refrain from selling the game. NAMI claims that the game is an “irresponsible, stereotyped portrayal of mental illness.”
Gamers will recall that the playable characters in the game, Daniel Lamb and Leo Kasper, are escapees from the Dixmor Institute for the Criminally Insane. The statement from NAMI further said that the game “unfortunately perpetuates and reinforces cruel, inaccurate perceptions that people who live with mental illnesses are violent.”

We earlier reported on a hack for Manhunt 2 on the PlayStation Portable, which enabled players to partially remove the censors that were in place to tone the game down from an AO to an M rating. This time around, it appears that even Take-Two Interactive’s gotten wind of the hack, as they’ve reportedly been sending out a press statement. Here’s how their message reads:
Multiple edits were made to revise Manhunt 2 for its M-rated version.
Hackers apparently have altered one of those edits to produce an illegally modified version of the game that can only be played on an unauthorized, modified PlayStation Portable handheld system.
All of the game material, and especially these specific edits, was submitted to and reviewed by the ESRB in accordance with requirements regarding disclosure that were enacted two years ago and any contrary suggestion is inaccurate and irresponsible.
Take-Two Chairman Strauss Zelnick said, “I stand behind the game and the ESRB ratings process. It is unfortunately the case that no one in the entertainment software industry is immune from hacking. We hope that consumers will not engage in hacking or download illegally modified copies of our games. We encourage them to enjoy our games as they are meant to be played. We would also like to emphasize that Manhunt 2 is intended for an audience aged 17 and above.”
Following its release to North America, Manhunt 2 for the PSP and Wii has already been the subject of much controversy from both watchdog groups and political leaders. And need we remind the readers, this game’s strictly for a Mature audience. Drop by again in case of new developments.
