GameMusicGear new version due out soon

Tuesday, January 1st, 2008

Orange PSP - Image 1A lot of you Sony PlayStation Portable homebrew fans probably remember the GameMusicGear developed by coder silmarilion. It’s been a while since the developer and the nifty music program were last heard of, but the wait should be worth it considering what was recently posted.

Making an appearance in the QJ.NET Forums, silmarilion revealed a lot of new features. They’ll drop in about a month, but these notes had us pumped up and ready for it:

  • It will now be a plugin based app (like mp3 plugin, spc plugin, etc.)
  • Rar Support
  • Skin Support (with bitmap and ttf fonts) (maybe utf8 support)
  • In game config screen.
  • Controls configuration
  • Full screen visualizer
  • Output plugins to encode the playing song to other format! (like wav or mp3)
  • It uses the jge engine, so i had to rewrote some of the graphics code. But i guess it was worth it!
  • Also i have been working on support for other audio formats!

Here’s hoping that silmarilion puts it all together on the new version of GameMusicGear soon. We’ll tell you about it as soon as this ear-pleaser is done so keep it with us for more exciting developments in Sony PSP homebrew.

JaX3RiR's 3.XX Kernel homebrew pack for PSP Slims - Image 1Here’s a bit of good news for Slim owners in case you think your handheld’s missing out on the homebrew scene on account of firmware compatibility.

Developer JaX3RiR dropped by the QJ.NET PSP Development Forums earlier to announce the release of a 3.XX homebrew pack.

This bundle contains five homebrew games originally built for PSP firmware 1.50 and recompiled by JaX3RiR to work on fw 3.xx. While it’ll work for PSP Phats running on CFW, this collection was intended for use on PSP Slims. Here’s a list of the games:

We advise users to view the readme included in the bundle if you’re wondering how to install these games. You may also want to visit JaX3RiR’s release thread over at the QJ.NET PSP Development Forums if you’re looking for more details on the games included in this pack.
