Small Physics Game (update 3)

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

Small Physics Game (update 3) by spike021 and hotrocker here - Image 1About a couple of weeks back, we saw PlayStation Portable homebrew developers spike021 and hotrocker release their version of Fun Little Physics Game, originally made by SG57. Today, we have another update for the homebrew game and to avoid confusion, we’ll call it update 3.

In case you missed the previous updates, Small Physics Game will have you controlling a green smiley and the object of the game is to whack the red circles that come after you. Anyway, for this build, the devs noted the following on the release thread:

  • Added a song, custom tailored for this game
  • Fixed health bug (you didn’t always get your bonus…)
  • The health bar now flashes red when you have low health
  • At a certain point you start to hallucinate and see ghosts of the old balls
  • If these ghosts come into contact with you the screen flashes
  • WARNING: DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME IF YOU HAVE EPILEPSY..i don’t think anyone w/ a psp does but still…
  • Added a menu (just waits till you press start)
  • Added second shotput after 500 points

Be reminded that Small Physics Game was made for Sony PSPs on 3.xx CFW and the devs are open to suggestions and comments. You can visit them at the forum link below.

Umihara Kawase demo available in Japanese PlayStation Store

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

Umihara Kawase Marvelous - Image 1Marvelous Interactive’s Umihara Kawase’s release date may have been pushed back, but there’s still a way to get your fix of the game today. As it turns out, the Japanese PlayStation Store now has a demo of Umihara Kawase available. Containing three fields, this packs quite a punch for a mere demo of the game.

If you’re interested in getting the demo, and if you have a Japanese PlayStation Store account, here’s some tips on how to get started with the game. Press and hold the square button to attach your grappling hook to nearby blocks, and press the up and down directional buttons to adjust the length of your line. Use the left and right buttons to safely swing over the gaps to the next platform.

Pretty easy, yes? Better grab the game, so you can check out for yourself whether or not Umihara Kawase is worthy of an import purchase.

Webapp v1.0: access your internet browser anytime

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

Sony PSP logo - Image 1If you look at your Sony PSP as more of a portable internet browsing device than a handheld gaming console, then you may want to check out pspflashsystem’s new homebrew application, Webapp v1.0. So what’s this application all about?

Basically, Webapp lets PlayStation Portable users launch the handheld’s browser at any time, whether it’s in the XMB menu, or even if it’s running a UMD or a homebrew game. However, do take note that once you jump to the browser while playing a UMD game, you’ll be sent back to the XBL menu upon exiting the browser.

There’s also another nifty feature to this homebrew program. Webapp also lets users set up a combination of button presses to start certain Eboot applications. It’s a good thing that pspflashsystem went the extra mile to make two versions of Webapp: one with manual installation, and another that can be installed automatically. Great, eh? To get to started on the right track, refer to this installation guide as supplied by pspflashsystem.

Manual Installation:

  • Connect your PSP to your computer via USB,
  • Post your PSP into USB mode with the option USB connection,
  • Right click on the file you downloaded,
  • Choose to Extract the files … (WinRAR is to be installed)
  • Select destination as the letter assigned to your Memory Stick in the My Computer
  • Press OK and wait extraction files
  • Add to files VSH.TXT, GAME.TXT, POPS.TXT and GAME150.TXT who are in the directory SEPLUGINS your Memory Stick, the following line:
  • Ms0: / SEPLUGINS / webapp.prx
  • Leave the USB mode and switch off your PSP (press and hold the power button)
  • Restart your PSP maintaining the R Trigger right to enter the Recovery Menu,
  • Choose the option plugins
  • Enable ( “[Enabled]”) webapp.prx [VSH] by pressing X,
  • Enable ( “[Enabled]”) webapp.prx [GAME] by pressing X
  • Enable ( “[Enabled]”) webapp.prx [POPS] by pressing X,
  • Enable ( “[Enabled]”) webapp.prx [GAME150] by pressing X,
  • Return to XMB using the Back and Exit options

Automatic Installation:

  • Post your PSP into USB mode with the option USB connection,Right click on the file you downloaded,

  • Go to the menu Thursday> Memory Stick to launch “webapp prx easy installer”
  • When osk please change XXX with the name of your homebrew kit, but you can also modify pous
  • The other cases targets …Then it’s simple: you just have to read and follow the instructions …
  • Leave the USB mode and switch off your PSP (press and hold the power button)
  • Restart your PSP maintaining the R Trigger right to enter the Recovery Menu,
  • Choose the option plugins
