If you feel like testing your mettle against a good brain busting homebrew puzzle game for the Sony PlayStation Portable, then you may want to try out developer Wallaby’s Dark Basis. Putting things simply, this interesting homebrew title is basically your standard two-dimensional maze navigating game.

However, while the premise of the game may be quite simple, the mechanics behind it get progressively more challenging as you make your way through it. For every stage that you get past the first one, succeeding levels will offer you an increasing number of exit points.

Now for the bad news: only one of these exits will lead you to the next level; any other kicks you back to the first stage’s starting point. The game may be frustrating for some, but it’s definitely going to stretch your mental facilities trying to remember the entire layout of every level.

This Lua-based demo of Dark Basis only sports four levels so far, although the developer mentioned that the final version will have as many as thirty stages for players to navigate through. If you feel like giving your brain some much needed exercise, go ahead and download this game through the link we’ve provided below.

Good news for those who use Skype on the Sony PlayStation Portable: a Headset Kit designed especially for use with the VoIP service will soon be available. According to its Amazon listing, the PSP Skype Headset Kit will be available by April 15.

The headset kit was included in a listing of other PSP and PS3 accessories that was supposedly leaked a few days ago. The listing was also accurate on the price of the headset kit, which is tagged at US 19.99.

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire, as they say, so we could probably expect the others to pop up one by one in the near future. Hopefully we’ll hear more about this soon, so check back for updates.

Games made in tribute to a well-established franchise have always been an interesting commodity within the homebrew community. Developer Jack was able to create a new one based on the recent Transformers movie by Michael Bay.

Transform v0.1 is a basic beat ‘em up game for the Sony PlayStation Portable, with sprites of both Optimus Prime and Bumblebee ripped from the original film, and placed in an isometric battlefield. The game includes two levels of difficulty and several other options that you can tweak the settings with.

While the current background for the game may not seem too realistic, the developer promises to work on rendering better graphics to give the game a more realistic feel in future updates. Transform v0.1 is a Lua based game and has been tested on kernel 3.xx. It is also compatible with both the PSP Slim and Phat.

Anyway, you can check out the game for yourself by download it through the link below. While this game won’t exactly make your PSP transform and roll out, we hope you enjoy this interesting new game just the same.
