Stackless Python PSP 2.5.2 R1

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

Stackless Python PSP 2.5.2 R1 - Image 1Here’s a bit of good news for the aspiring PSP developer out there. carlosedp has announced that a new build of the Stackless Python PSP programming language is now available for use within the homebrew community.

The version was built using the latest version of the original Stackless Python Code, currently at v 2.5.2 revision 61023. As for the rest of the changelog for this new release (quoting carlosedp’s site):

  • Updated to Stackless Python 2.5.2 from http://svn.python.org/projects/stackless/branches/release25-maint revision 61023.
  • Fix for Issue #1  where the default build requires the OpenSSL lib to compile hashlib module. Now the module is built only if the flag WITH_SSL is enabled in Makefile.
  • Updated to latest libs revision from svn://www.fraca7.net/python/trunk/python revision 172.
  • Added pach from MagerValp to fix some issues on pspos, psp2d, pspnet.
  • Added support for large memory on PSP Slim and changed memory allocation.
  • Changed release method to support all python library from a Zip file.
  • Log now is placed inside Python own dir instead of MS root.
  • Some fixes to Makefile.base that prevented “make release” to run on some platforms.
  • Not setting clockspeed on main.c anymore.

Further details on Stackless Python PSP can be found at carlosedp’s release site, via the source link below. Enjoy the download, and be sure to keep on the lookout in case of any further updates.

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

Sony PSP - Image 1 If you thought that PSP homebrew developer Auraomega’s Project4 was insanely cool but you caught a dose of its BSoD bug, you might want to check out the latest update to the XMB substitute titled Project4 V1.6180-2. The BSoD bug has been squashed and compatibility with CFW 4.01M33 is a go.

No other changes have been made except for the BSoD fix, but we’re pretty sure that it’s good enough for now. After all, Project4 has been way cool from the get-go.

Details on how the BSoD happens and how Auraomega fixed it are chronicled in the download. You can read through it if you’re interested. If not, go right ahead and apply the fix. Enjoy!

Homebrew - The Magic Number

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

I can read your mind... - Image 1Here’s a fairly simple homebrew game from littlevish that reads your mind. The Magic Number is coded in LUA and basically tells you which number you are thinking of.

David Blaine magic much, eh? It sounds pretty interesting enough for me as I’m all for those mind tricks and whatnot. It may seem boring playing it by yourself, but you’re sure to get an audience with kids. As littlevish notes, “little kikds seem to be particularly impressed by this trick.”

Not hard to imagine why. If you even wanna go so far as tricking your nieces and nephews, or that kid you’re babysitting, you can even bet with them that you can figure out what number they’re thinking of. Yeah, that would be mean, but the look on their face when you get it right would sure be priceless, yes?

Air Hockey PSP v1.0

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

Kenium's Air Hockey PSP v1.0 - Image 1K nium has released his fifth homebrew for the PSP, Air Hockey PSP v1.0. There are five levels in all in this release, and he’s added in AIs, if our understanding of the translation is correct.

Since Air Hockey is a game inherently meant to be enjoyed with somebody else, it’s good that he’s made it possible for two people to play on the same PSP. Also, since he’s created this as an entry to the scenebeta homebrew contest, it certainly was considerate of him to put in English and Spanish versions, too.

Here’s some product description for you folks:

  • A new game remove the old saved game before.
  • The saved game is make automatically at the time of the passage of new level.
  • there are 5 levels (Version 1.0).
  • the first persone who have 7 points win the game.

Instructions are in the readme, so be sure to check that out. Enjoy!
